From A Single Lab Diamond Rough

The journey begins long before the Eternal Cross cut lab diamond is set in 14k recycled gold. It began with an ambitious idea that took more than six months to bring to life. Our master diamond developers set out to create something the jewelry industry had never seen before; a diamond cross cut capable of revealing not just the cross silhouette, but a second hidden cross mirrored within the stone itself. 

After countless prototypes, mathematical modeling, and engineering precision, we had our ideal cut. The result is the patented Eternal Cross Cut, a move away from the diamond cross design that uses multiple diamonds in various shapes. Unlike traditional diamond cross jewelry pieces, every Eternal Cross is formed from a single lab-grown diamond rough.

Painting with Light

After receiving a parcel of roughs, our master cutters begin the transformation of rough to Eternal Cross. Each stone’s brilliance is revealed over the course of one month of cleaving, bruting, and polishing.

This lengthy process demands exceptional skill, as every decision influences the final appearance of the cross. What you wear is a piece of high-quality diamond jewelry that beings with a single lab diamond rough shaped by the hands of skilled artisans.

The secret cross, that appears within the diamond cross silhouette, is visible without magnification. This visual wonder is created entirely through the arrangement of the facets within the Eternal Cross cut, transforming light into beautiful and deeply symbolic jewelry.

The Eternal Cross cut has 45 precisely positioned facets, each one calculated to maximise brilliance, while simultaneously creating the remarkable inner cross. Every Eternal Cross is hand polished, allowing light to move effortlessly through the cross silhouette and reveal the signature optical effect that makes the Eternal Cross truly one of a kind.

The level of craftsmanship required cannot be rushed. Diamond cutting, whether for lab-grown diamonds or natural diamonds, is measured in fractions of a millimeter, where even the slightest variation can alter the way light behaves within the stone. Our master cutters spend weeks refining each lab diamond, ensuring every angle, proportion, and the overall symmetry creates the perfect balance between beauty and symbolism. Sculpting Each Eternal Cross Piece

Once the lab diamond cut has completed its final polish in the hands of our diamond cutters, the focus shifts to the creation of the jewelry itself. Every piece from the Eternal Cross collection is handcrafted by artisans using techniques that have been refined over generations. 

At ORYS we believe the passion of the craftsmen and craftswomen is reflected in the beauty of the final piece of jewelry. So, rather than relying on automated production methods, every pendant, bracelet, and earring is individually crafted to ensure the highest possible level of quality. From the initial wax model through to the final quality inspection, every piece can take up to a full week to complete.

The process begins with a carefully sculpted wax model, allowing every curve and proportion to be perfected before production begins. Once approved, the design is cast in 14K recycled white or yellow gold, creating the foundation of the finished piece. From there, each component is meticulously filed and refined by hand to achieve flawless surfaces and perfect alignment.

The Eternal Cross diamond is carefully set into place using techniques specifically designed to hold the lab diamond cross securely, whilst allowing it to catch the most amount of light. Finally, the jewelry undergoes an extensive polishing process that enhances both the luster of the metal and the diamond’s sparkle.

Our jewelry is engineered to maximize the flow of light into the stone from a myriad of angles. Because the supply of premium lab-grown diamond roughs can be controlled, our designers are able to experiment with entirely new shapes and cutting techniques that challenge the conventions of traditional diamond craftsmanship.
